Staubacht, 2015

sand, dust, metal, plastic, light, fan, wiper motor

 400 x 400 x 250 cm

Exhibition view from the international Light Art Festival Lichtungen in Hildesheim.

Red earth from the region of Aveyron in southern France was collected and grinded into red powder, which is constantly floating down onto the fan. The fan is blowing the powder into the air again, so the whole space is filled with dust. Due to its fineness, the powder lingers in the air for a while, entering every little slit in the wall and on the floor.

It’s possible to feel the  powder’s dryness as it enters the nose and covers parts of the tongue as well.
